Enrollment Checklist for Flight Training
Note: Completing items 1 thru 5 of this checklist prior to flight training will save several hours of ground time. Item No. 6 is not required until the beginning of patternwork and landings.
Create and submit an application in IACRA
Go to iacra.faa.gov
Create an account
Log in and click "Start New" application, you will be asked for more information
Start a new application for "Pilot -> Student pilot"
Once the applicatiopn is complete, DO submit this application
Create, but DO NOT submit an application in MedXPress
Go to medexpress.faa.gov
Create an account
Log in and start a new application for a 3rd class medical (NOT a student pilot certificate)
Save the application, DO NOT submit this application
Let your instructor review the application before submitting it

Request an account at Aeroledger
Log into aeroledger with the new account
Request access to Coyote Flight Centers, LLC
Go to the 'Permissions' section of the 'Utilities' tab
Select Coyote Flight Centers, LLC in the drop down box
Click 'Request Access'
Sign up for the FAA WINGS Safety program
Go to faasafety.gov
Create an account
Set your email preferences to recieve notifications for local safety events.
Create proof of your citizenship
Make a COPY of the following documents:
Drivers license
Birth certificate OR U.S. Passport
Both documents can be on the same sheet of paper
Bring the copy to the flight school and give to your instructor. Please DO NOT give him the originals.
Bookmark the weather on your phone
Go to www.aviationweather.gov
Click on the METARs button
Scroll down to "Request METAR data"
In the IDs box put "KAMA KDHT KPVW KLBB"
Check the box for "Include TAF"
Click the button "Get METAR data"
Save the page to the homescreen on your cell phone so that it can be easily accessed at any time.

Purchase the following items and create a flight kit
E6B flight computer (non-electronic)
Fuel tester
Flashlight
Pens/pencils and small notebook
Obtain insurance
Insurance is required prior to patternwork or landings
$60,000 hull (Aircraft physical damage)
$250,000 liability (Bodily injury and property damage)
